So, in the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard people, mainly male politicians, state their views on rape, abortion, and women’s rights. I must say, I’m disgusted. As a fellow HUMAN, you should let women decide for themselves.
Abortion. If a woman wants one, for rape, medical difficulties, whatever, it’s not your business, it’s her choice. “But it’s against God!” Wrong. It’s against YOUR god. Separation of Church and state. What’s next, mandatory Sunday School, where people will hold a gun up to my head to make me go? No. That’s your god. And do you really think that your god wants you to act this way?
Mitt Romney, if you get elected, gays and women should be sad and scared. Pretty much everyone who isn’t a straight, white, 1%-er, male should be scared. You laugh at gays, and you say it’s against God. Wrong, it’s against your god. Maybe the majority is Christian… now. What about 40 years from now? 1/8 of America is already atheist. Or at least have said. How many Muslims, Buddhists? How is it ok to say “these people can have rights, but you guys, you people that don’t believe what we believe, that’s wrong, and you can’t have those rights.” No, that is not America.
And Rep. Todd Akin’s whole thing on “legitimate rape,”. Next thing you’r gonna say is that the woman definitely won’t get pregnant if she doesn’t climax, right? Or if she doesn’t enjoy it? You know when they had that view? The mother effin DARK AGES! “Oh, good thing that your body shut down that rape baby,” said NO DOCTOR EVER.
And Mike Huckabee. How dare you. “You know, there are some extraordinary people that come from rape.” Really. Well, since Hitler, Stalin, the Zodiac Killer, and all those other horrible monsters came from consensual sex, then I guess every woman should get raped, every time. Maybe then I guess we’ll stop whining about it hurting.
Rape apologists apparently are a real thing. I blissfully didn’t know that until this year. I though everyone knew it was wrong, but there were bad people in this world. George Galloway, a British MP, stated that it’s not rape if she’s asleep. “This is something which can happen, you know. I mean, not everybody needs to be asked prior to each insertion.” Or people think that it’s ok if it’s not “forcible.” Ok. Well, let me drug you up enough so you can’t fight and shove an electric rod up your butt. It won’t be forced, because you’ll be asleep. Shhh… don’t fight it.
And those people like Sharon Barnes, saying that “God blessed you with this life” after you’re raped. If you get raped and you decide to keep the resulting baby, that’s you. You are not me. Again, this is YOUR god. Don’t push your god on me. I, personally, can not even begin to think of looking into the eyes of my attacker every day for the rest of my life. I’d hate it. I might even go crazy and kill it. But that’s just me. And God blessed me with it? Oh, he blessed me with child care costs, too? And food costs, and clothing costs? I’m so done. Never have I ever wanted to slap a female politician for being so wrong on what women want, the choice.
The biggest thing that’s making me mad is that people are denying that this happens. I spoke to someone I work with, telling him that I was once raped, which is why I’m so vocal about it. He looked at me like I was crazy, saying “people actually do that? Those people exist? I always thought it was just a thought, like people think about raping other people, but some people actually go out and do it?” Yes. It’s real.
Protect your daughters in this future world. But more so, teach your sons better.
